Approximately 4,400 Residents of Sverdlovsk Region to Relocate from Unsafe Housing to New Apartments by End of 2016

Approximately 4.4 thousand residents of Sverdlovsk Oblast will move into new apartments by the end of 2016 as part of the third stage of the regional program for resettlement from hazardous housing. This was announced by the Department of Information Policy of the governor.

“At present the third stage of the program for resettling citizens from the emergency housing stock is being implemented, which will be completed by the end of this year. As a result, about 4.4 thousand Sverdlovsk residents need to be relocated. More than 2.5 billion rubles have been allocated for this, which will be used to construct 80 multi‑apartment buildings, 59 of which are already built,” the department clarified.

The department also noted that regional head Evgeny Kuivashev instructed the heads of Sverdlovsk cities to take control of the quality of houses being built for resettlement. The most problematic territories were named as Kamyshlovsky, Berezovsky, Seryovsky, Shalinsky and Tavdinsky urban districts, Taborsky rural settlement and the city of Irbit. “As of 1 January 2016, complaints about quality were received for 39 of the built houses. Three houses have already been cleared of violations, documents have been sent for seven to lift control. Work is ongoing to eliminate deficiencies in the remaining ones,” the Department of Information Policy explained.

The regional program for resettling citizens from hazardous housing has been operating in Sverdlovsk Oblast since 2013 and will finish in 2017. It is planned that by the end of the program about 16 thousand residents of the region will receive new apartments.
