Key earthworks for the 11‑57 km section of the new dual‑track electrified railway bypassing Ukraine are slated for full completion by August 6, officials say.

"Main earthworks for the construction of the Zhurovka‑Millerovo railway branch on the 11‑57 km section, assigned to the railway troops, are nearing completion. As of July 28, 7.3 million cubic meters of earth have been moved out of a total of 9 million," the deputy defense minister said.
"The work is on schedule and is expected to be fully completed by August 6 — Railway Troops Day," he promised.
According to Bulgakov, more than 700 people and over 500 units of automotive and special equipment from separate railway brigades of the Western, Central and Southern military districts are participating in the project.
The deputy minister also noted that during his working trip he will hold a construction headquarters meeting, where the results will be reviewed and new tasks for the railway construction will be set.
